College Student Wiki

PDF Print E-mail
College Wikis by College Students
Wikia is in development of college wikis by college students.

The service, which is still in its early stages, allows students to post and edit information about the college or university he or she is attending, or has attended.

The wiki is viewable by the public and in the future could help prospective students in making college decisions.

A Wiki allows visitors to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change some content. However, the college wiki can only be edited by those with a .edu email address, to ensure the content provider is associated with the college or university.

An an example of a current college wiki in development can be found at Stanford’s wiki and others at Students.Wikia.com

Of course there are other college wiki’s outside the wikia domain, such as Duke University’s wiki, Duiki which is essentially the same idea of a page edited by students, hosted onsite by Duke University.

While most of the information on the wiki’s are already on the discussed university’s website, the wiki offers information from a students point of view.

While this new service has little content now and as mentioned is still in development stages, we like the idea.
