Review: The Portopong Inflatable Beer Pong Table

Portopong We got our hands on a Portopong inflatable beer pong table, and we like what we see. We first came across this floating beer pong table poolside in Vegas, and it’s clearly a good fit for the college crowd who loves to party and play drinking games.

The first impression of the Portopong inflatable table is the ultimate in portability when it comes to beer pong (or Beirut, whichever you prefer to call it). Sure, there are other portable beer pong tables out there, but none as lightweight and compact as this one. The product even comes with its own convenient carrying bag, so you can easily take it with you on the go. With no other beer pong table do you have so many options on where to play beer pong. Take it to the beach, bring it to the pool, tailgate with it, or make it the life of your dorm room or house party...the options are endless. As their motto goes, play anywhere on anything!

It just takes a quick minute or two to inflate the Portopong by mouth, and you're all set. When game play is over you can easily deflate the device for easy storage.

Testing it Out

It may take a game or two to "break in" your Portopong upon first use. The keg cups we used weren’t sliding in their respective holes very easily, but this is something that got easier as more games were played.

It was our first game of beer pong played in water. The first thought was the length seemed just a bit short (the Portopong is 6 feet long versus the traditional 8 feet of a Pro table), which made the game go by somewhat quick (in a fun way). But when game play was moved to the deeper end of the pool, where the water was up to our chests/necks, the game was definitely a challenge. How often do you shoot a pong ball when your head is level with the table?

Playing Beer Pong on the Portopong

Note that this device has more options than just playing in a pool. But it is summer, and the weather is 90+ degrees, so why not? Because of the hot weather, the last cup or two left in the rack would get slightly warmer, and nobody likes warm beer. But, after checking the Portopong FAQ this could be easily solved by adding a few ice cubes to the bottom of the cup holders.

Challenges

The Portopong table provides fun and challenging entertainment, and pro beer pong players always like a challenge. One factor that made playing beer pong in the water difficult is the fact that the floating beer pong table moves ever so slightly in the ripples of the pool. Pro beer pong players also like to "bounce it in". We tried this a few times; the humps of the air mattress making it difficult, though we did manage to bounce it in a few times.

Product Features

The unit is a 6-foot, inflatable/deflatable table complete with cup holders in rack formation, and with grommets on each corner, so it can be hung from ceilings, trees, poles and more.
